TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Event, held at Parkers Piece Cambridge (“Site”) is organised and managed by Cambridge Christmas Markets Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 15141574 and with registered office at Midland House, 2 Poole Road, Bournemouth, BH25 5QY
We set out below the Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) that shall apply to:
a. Your entry to the Event;
b. Any purchase of Tickets to any Skate and Family Attractions (as set out below).
Notwithstanding the means by which a visitor attends the Event (including any Tickets to any Skate and Family Attractions), the Entry Conditions as set out below apply to all visitors attending the Event.
The Terms relating to Tickets shall apply as set out below (save as may be varied by any Ticketing Terms and Conditions (if applicable, and as defined below).
Furthermore, entry into Christmas In Cambridge implies agreement for all members of your party with our terms and conditions as written here, on our website and found onsite at the main site entrance.
Admission into the Event is at all times subject to these Terms and the terms, conditions. If you breach any of these Terms and/or any such terms, conditions and/or rules then we may refuse admission or require you and/or your party to leave the Site.
Entry Conditions
On entry to the Event all visitors agree to accept and abide by any house rules (as may be updated from time to time) and any other regulations from time to time provided on entry to the Site.
All visitors make use of the facilities at Christmas In Cambridge at their own risk. Visitors must obey all safety signage and instructions from site staff at all times.
Due to a set capacity, entrance into Christmas In Cambridge is not guaranteed.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over at all times whilst within the site. Visitors are responsible for their own safety at all times and must not leave their children unattended.
Please check our website, leaflet, and calendars onsite for our opening times and dates. Last admission into the site is half an hour before closing. We reserve the right to refuse entry into the site after this time.
Entry into Christmas In Cambridge may be restricted due to matters outside of our control. Although we do take reasonable precautions, unforeseen emergencies can be unavoidable and so last-minute site closures may occur. We cannot guarantee that all activities will be available and structures operational each day we are open.
Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited in its absolute discretion reserves the right at any time to close all or any part of the Event, any attraction(s) (including any Ticketed Attraction(s) and/or Ride(s), or to restrict the number of persons having access to the Event, any attraction(s) (including any Ticketed Attraction(s) and/or Ride(s) due to capacity, inclement weather, or special events to ensure safety, security and/or order, or if Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reasonably considers the circumstances so require.
If the Event and/or any attractions (including any Ticketed Attraction, Rides, Bookings) is/are cancelled/closed in its/their entirety for any reason, we will use our reasonable endeavours to notify any pre-bookings as soon as possible (including notifying you of the details of any rescheduled dates and operating hours the Event, Rides and/or attraction will be open). If you have already purchased a Ticket or booked ahead, you will be entitled to a refund (save where any Ticketing Terms and Conditions preclude this). Anyone with tickets booked in advance will be notified as soon as reasonably possible via the e-mail address provided upon booking, and announcements via our main social media channels will be made.
The Event will operate in line with any government rules/restrictions. The Operator reserves the right to close should governmental or other regulatory capacity restrictions and/or any decision of another relevant authority be implemented nearer the Event date.
In all circumstances, where refunds are given by Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited, only the face value of the Ticket shall be refunded.
In order to facilitate the security, safety and comfort of all patrons, Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reserve the right in their reasonable discretion to conduct security searches of persons, clothing, bags and all other items on entry and exit to the Event and/or an attraction or ride, to confiscate items which may cause danger or disruption to the Event or other patrons or are in breach of these Terms and/or to refuse admission.
Dogs are permitted onsite with the exception of the indoor bar areas and ice rink except certified assistance dogs. Please note, the Event can be very busy and noisy, especially at weekends, and therefore is not a suitable environment for dogs. No other animals are permitted on site.
Any undercover structure will be non smoking (including Vaping) - list areas inc Skate
In the event of an emergency, visitors must follow instructions and directions from stewards, staff and other officials.
You must comply with any and all instructions given to you by Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited and/or all Event stewards and staff and with all Site regulations. Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reserves the right to restrict access to parts of the Site.
We reserve the right to refuse entrance into the site, in the interest of the public and for safety reasons. We reserve the right to ask any visitor to leave the site at any time.
The Event is an outdoor winter event and visitors are advised to wear appropriate clothing and footwear at all times.
Valid identification may be requested as a condition of entry to certain areas and bars within the Event.
Special Events
Christmas In Cambridge also runs a number of special seasonal private events. Christmas In Cambridge reserves the right to close the site for private use. Dates of these closures are available on the website and social media channels.
Family Attractions - including Big Wheel, Carousel and Funfair Rides
All bookings are subject to the third party booking conditions.
Access to these attractions are subject to each individual ride restriction. Adults may need to accompany children on attractions and will need to purchase a valid ticket accordingly. All access to attractions is at the discretion of the operator. The operator reserves the right to determine the ratio of responsible persons in relation to children required for adequate supervision.
Weight and height restrictions may apply to a small number of activities on the site for the benefit of visitor health and safety. These are posted at the activities within the site. It is your/guardian of the child’s duty and responsibility to assess each piece of equipment and its suitability.
All attractions and other facilities must be used in accordance with the operator’s instructions.
Christmas In Cambridge reserves the right to limit a visitor’s use of an area if they are not adhering to the health and safety restrictions.
Ice Skating
All bookings are subject to the third party booking conditions.
Ice Skating can be hazardous. Participation in an Ice Skating session is entirely at your own risk. Neither Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited nor Skate is responsible for any injuries arising from your use of the Ice Rink.
Skaters must follow the instructions of the marshals at all times.
The Ice Skating Manager reserves the right to remove those deemed a risk to the safety of others in their sole discretion.
All Ice Skating Attraction Ticket holders must assume that Ice Skating operates in all weather conditions. In the unlikely event that the Ice Skating operator and/or Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited deems it necessary to close the Ice Rink, you may be entitled to a full refund, if the Ice Rink is closed in its entirety or you may be entitled to a full or partial refund if the Ice Rink is closed during the session for which your Ticket is valid.
Please bring suitable outdoor clothing as the Ice Skating is outdoors and no refunds will be given due to inclement weather.
Items left in the Ice Skating cloakroom are left at the owner’s risk.
Children of 12 years or under must be accompanied on the ice and remain under the control or supervision of a person or adult at all times.
Ice Skating is not recommended for those aged 2 and under due to ice skate sizes. All access to the rink is at the discretion of the Ice Rink management team.
Tickets are non-refundable, not for re-sale, and not exchangeable for any cash value. Tickets purchased in advance either online via our website or over the phone are valid for the date booked for, which is stated on the tickets sent after purchase. Ticket refunds must be processed via the original payment method. If a refund is required for a ticket that has been purchased in advance, it cannot be refunded at our onsite tills.
Bars
Anyone aged 18 and under will not be permitted after 8pm in the Alpine Lodge and Curling Lane Bar areas..
Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reserves the right to determine the ratio of responsible persons in relation to children required for adequate supervision.
We operate Challenge 25 on our bars. If you are asked to provide proof of age (passport, driving licence or PASS card (www.pass-scheme.org.uk) and you are unable to do so you will not be served alcohol.
Alcohol
When purchasing alcohol at the Event, if you appear to be under the age of 25 you will be asked for valid identification that you are aged 18 or over.
Alcohol is not permitted to be taken into the Event and any alcoholic drinks purchased on site must be consumed before leaving. Bag searches will be in operation.
Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reserves the right refuse alcohol to any attendee who, in Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited or any Event staff’s absolute discretion, is unreasonably intoxicated and/or is behaving in an unacceptable manner.
Climbing or standing upon tables, chair, benches, fences, barriers, trees, shrubbery, walls, safety fences, ride structures, exhibits, buildings or anything similar is strictly prohibited.
The Event site will be operated in accordance with the Licencing Act 2003 and the Event Alcohol Management Plan.
Food
All food stalls are independently operated by the respective traders. The event/site does not own, operate, or manage any of the food stalls present. Each trader is fully responsible for their operations, including food preparation, service, and sales.
It is the responsibility of each food trader to provide accurate and clear allergen information for all food items they sell. Customers will be able to request and receive detailed allergen information directly from the trader.
The event/site does not assume any responsibility for the accuracy of allergen information provided by food traders.
All food-related inquiries, including questions about ingredients, dietary restrictions, and food safety, should be directed to the individual food traders. Traders are required to have contact information readily available to customers for this purpose.
The event/site takes no responsibility for any issues related to food safety, allergen exposure, or any other matters arising from the consumption of food sold by independent traders. Any claims or concerns must be directed to the food trader responsible for the sale of the food product.
By purchasing food from any independent stall, customers acknowledge that they are entering into a transaction directly with the food trader, and the event/site is not liable for any adverse effects.
All food traders are required to comply with local health and safety regulations, including but not limited to the provision of allergen information, proper food handling, and hygiene practices. Traders must display proof of compliance upon request by event/site officials.
Event Security and Prohibited Items
The safety and comfort of all visitors is a priority. The Event has a robust security management plan, which is coordinated by Event security and the Cambridge Police. If you see something suspicious, or something that does not feel right, please report it to a member of our security team.
To maximise safety, where operationally necessary, searches may take place on entry or during the Event site. This can include the use of metal detectors and searches of the person. All bags will be searched. Please note these searches are a condition of entry and attendance at the Event, any person with illegal or prohibited items or who does not want to be searched will be refused entry or evicted. Please also note prohibited items listed below. We will not be able to look after these items for you or hold liability and you will not be able to enter the event. Security checks may result in delays when entering the Site, please leave extra time for these searches to take place.
Only handbags or small rucksacks will be permitted into the event, as we may not be able to accommodate large bags. We class small bags as no larger A4 size or standard handbags. We ask all guests to be vigilant and not to leave bags and belongings unattended at any time. Any unattended item may be disposed of in line with our security protocols.
Please contact a member of the events team immediately if you have any concerns or problems at the Event. It may not be possible to resolve unreported issues after the Event.
Prohibited Items. The following articles MUST NOT be brought into the Event: Knives, Work Tools, Fireworks (including sparklers), Smoke canisters, Air-horns, Spray Paint/Cans/large marker pens, Chinese/Sky Lanterns, Handheld Communication Devices (such as radios), High Visibility Clothing, powered or unpowered Skateboards, Scooters (unless otherwise permitted by security), or Bikes, Flares (such as emergency or distress flares manufactured for legitimate military, maritime, or transport purposes), offensive weapons/potential weapons/anything adapted for such purpose, Any object/ item considered to be potentially dangerous or harmful to public safety being a single item or a potential component part for another object, Laser devices, Bottles (unless empty, non-glass)/ glass vessels (including bottle/ cans- even if wrapped up as a present for a later time, Your own alcohol – even if wrapped up as a present for a later time, CS Gas Poles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UACs) commonly known as “Drones” or “Remotely Piloted Aircraft”, Any article that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety, Open bottles of drink/liquid (unopened and factory sealed bottles of water will be accepted, as will empty reusable cups and bottles), Food (other than baby food or food required for medical purposes, Illegal drugs, Nitrous Oxide (in any form), Drug Paraphernalia including Psychoactive Substances and Alkyl Nitrates (otherwise known as Poppers), Chairs/Stools, Banners/Flags, Sound Systems/items that can amplify sound, corrosive substances including acids and substances which are capable on application to the human body of causing hurt through corrosive action, unauthorised or counterfeit merchandise, kites, musical instruments, unauthorised powered vehicles (motorbikes, quad bikes and buggies), any animals (other than assistance dogs). Unauthorised professional tape recorders, photography, and video equipment (unless otherwise permitted by security). Equipment considered to be professional will be permitted at the discretion of the security, any other items considered to be unsafe or potentially posing a risk to public safety and/ or security.
Any person in possession of any item set out above will be refused entry to the Event, removed from the Event, or will have such items confiscated and destroyed. Any article that might be used as a weapon, be deemed to be offensive or abusive, or compromise public safety, will be confiscated, and may be reported to the police.
Use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited at the Event.
Visitors may be refused admission or ejected from the Event and the Site in accordance with Christmas In Cambridge’s eviction procedure if, in the opinion of Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited, the visitor is a risk to the safety of any patron and/or may affect the enjoyment of other patrons and/or the running of the Event or may cause damage, nuisance or injury. Examples include being (or appearing to be) drunk, incapable, intoxicated or under the influence of illegal drugs, under-age (where relevant), abusive, threatening, behaving anti-socially, carrying offensive weapons or illegal substances, committing a criminal offence, declining to be searched or are in breach of any of these Terms or the terms and conditions of the Royal Parks. Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reserves the right to refuse entry or evict all members of any group of persons where that group is behaving in accordance with the foregoing.
Visitors must only use the toilets and urinals provided and must not pollute the land.
Any abuse of any kind towards our staff will not be tolerated, this includes swearing, spitting and physical assault.
Commercial, promotional and trading activities are not permitted at the Event without express prior written permission of Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited. Please note that the Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited will charge a fee for any commercial activity (including filming, photography and recording a per below) at the Event.
Photography and Filming
Please note that CCTV and film cameras may be present at the Event. By entering and attending the Event (including Ticketed Attractions/Rides), attendees consent to being photographed, filmed and/or recorded, and consent to the image or recording of them (including any images or recordings taken by them within the Event) being used in distribution (commercial or otherwise) in perpetuity without any payment. All sound and moving or still picture rights including, without limitation, on the internet, vest exclusively with Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited (or by any third party as may be engaged by Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited).
Photography and filming on site is only allowed for the personal, non-profit making use of amateurs for appropriate reason and use only. Any inappropriate use may result in ejection in accordance with the Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited eviction procedure. Commercial or editorial photography is prohibited without prior permission from Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited. Accreditation must be requested from our press office in advance. Amateur photography groups must also request accreditation in advance of arriving on site.
A person may be denied entry to or removed from the Event if they are found in possession of any equipment capable of taking photographs, making films, sound recordings or broadcasts; or if they take any photograph, makes a film, sound recording or broadcast of anything occurring inside the Event for commercial gain (unless approved in accordance with the clause above. A person may enter the Event with the photography or filming equipment where it is integrated into electronic communications apparatus designed for personal private use (such as a mobile telephone) and/or a personal stills camera, but the person may still be removed in accordance with the clause above if they attempt to use this device for commercial gain. Removal of any customer in accordance with this term is at the sole discretion of Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited.
Government Guidelines
The event will follow all necessary Government guidelines that are applicable at the time of the Event.
Admission into the Event is at all times subject to any rules and guidance issued by the UK government and the Local Authority. If you breach any of these Terms and/or any such terms, conditions and/or rules then we may refuse admission or require you and/or other ticket holders to leave the Site without refund.
Before arriving at the Site please ensure you are familiar with the latest rules and guidance issued by the UK government, including any rules regardingCOVID-19 (https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus), and you should not act contrary to such rules and guidance.
General
Use of all attractions (including any Ticketed Attraction) and rides is entirely at your own risk and Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited will not be liable for any distress, inconvenience or anxiety caused during the course of any ride or attraction.
All visitors are solely responsible for the care, security, and safekeeping of their personal property while on the premises. The following terms apply:
Visitors are advised to take appropriate precautions to secure and protect any personal items they bring into the site, including but not limited to bags, electronics, wallets, and other valuables.
The event/site does not offer any secure storage or safeguarding services for personal belongings. It is the visitor’s responsibility to ensure that their items are not left unattended or vulnerable.
The event/site and its organisers are not responsible for any loss, theft, damage, or misplacement of personal property while on the premises. This includes property left in vehicles or any unattended areas. Visitors enter the site at their own risk with regard to their personal belongings.
Any items lost, stolen, or damaged while on-site are the sole responsibility of the owner, and the event/site will not be held liable for any compensation, reimbursement, or recovery efforts.
You are responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements for the Event and except as set out in these Terms, Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited shall not be liable for loss or damage of any kind whether direct or consequential, including but not limited to travel or accommodation expenses from postponement, cancellation, abandonment or curtailment of the Event and/or any attraction (including any Ticketed Attraction and/or any Rides) and the you hereby waive all rights of whatsoever nature against Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited, their employees, servants, agents, independent contractors or representatives arising from cancellation, abandonment or curtailment of the Event and/or of any Ticketed Attraction/Rides.
You agree that the Management will not be liable for any loss, injury or damage to any person (including yourself) or property however caused (including by Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited or any Event staff): (a) in any circumstances where there is no breach of a legal duty of care owed by Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited; (b) in circumstances where such loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of any such breach (save for death or personal injury resulting from Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited’, its servants’ or agents’ negligence); or (c) to the extent that any increase in any loss or damage results from breach by you of any of the Terms.
Nothing in these Terms seeks to exclude Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or other type of liability which cannot be excluded or limited by law (including without limitation fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation).
To the fullest extent permissible in law, Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited shall be entitled to assign all and any of its rights and obligations under the Terms, provided that your rights are not adversely affected.
If any provision of the Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the invalid or unenforceable provision shall be severed or amended in such a manner as to render the rest of the provision(s) and remainder of the Terms valid or enforceable.
If Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited delays or fails to enforce any of the Terms it shall not mean that Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited has waived its right to do so.
Any person, other than the Cambridge Council, who is not a party to the Terms, shall have no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of the Terms.
Nothing in the Terms and no action taken by you or Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited under the Terms shall create, or be deemed to create, a partnership, joint venture or establish a relationship of principal and agent or any other fiduciary relationship between you and Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited.
You and Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited both agree that it has not entered into the Terms in reliance of, and shall have no remedy in respect of, any statement, representation, covenant, warranty, undertaking or indemnity by any person other than as expressly set out in the Terms. Nothing in this clause shall operate to limit or exclude any liability for fraud.
The Terms do not and shall not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. For further information about your statutory rights contact Citizens Advice, Consumer Direct or the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
For the purposes of the Terms, “Force Majeure” means any cause beyond Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited’ control including, without limitation, act of God, war, insurrection, riot, civil disturbances, acts of terrorism, fire, explosion, flood, subsidence, lightning, earthquake or other natural disaster, weather of exceptional severity, epidemic, pandemic, disease, death or demise of a royal family member, royal mourning, national mourning, theft of essential equipment, malicious damage, strike, lock out, third party injunction, national defence requirements, acts or regulations of national or local governments. Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited will not be liable to you for failure to perform any obligation under these or any other Terms to the extent that the failure is caused by Force Majeure.
Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited reserves the right to change these Terms from time to time.
The Terms (including the Ticket Terms and Conditions) constitute the entire agreement between the parties in connection to the subject matter of the Terms and supersede any previous terms and conditions, agreement or arrangement between you and the Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited relating to the subject matter of the Terms. However, nothing in the Terms shall purport to exclude liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. The Terms cannot be varied or amended in any respect (unless agreed between You and Cambridge Christmas Markets Limited in writing).
These Terms shall be governed by English law and the parties agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts in connection herewith. If you live in Scotland you can bring legal proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts. If you live in Northern Ireland you can bring legal proceedings in either the Northern Irish or the English courts.
In line with relevant legislation, from time to time we may analyse your data. This will remain confidential to Christmas In Cambridge and is used to monitor our performance and feedback. Marketing preferences are opted into at the time of purchase. They can be changed at any time by contacting the respective Christmas In Cambridge office.
